It has excellent cinematography. The dialogue moves quickly and holds the interest. I think it is a winner." Steve Piragis

Fishing News
It is August. Bright sunshine and warm water forces most of the fish deep during the heart of the summer. Look for the walleyes deepest of all, off the bottom about a foot and present your bait as natural looking as possible. Try Berkley Gulp Minnows.

They're biodegradable and they capture the attention of fish like the real thing. We're now carrying lead free jigs from Timmy Tom's with blood red Eagle Claw hooks. This combination with a Gulp Minnow will get you results best in the evening and early morning hours.
The Northern Pike aren't as deep, but most have left the shallows in search of bigger meals down where it is cooler. They're more apt to snap at anything shiny: Mepps spinners, Daredevils, shiny spoons, or even one of my favorites (although collectible) an old Shannon Twin Spin. You can try the weeds along the shore, but I wouldn't mess around there too long. Remember Pike love to follow your shiny lure and hit it at the last moment, they also wait for smaller fish to hit your lure and then they attack full force, often hitting right at the side of your canoe.
The Smallmouth Bass are deeper as well, sticking close to their favorite haunts of sunken trees and rock structure, but with a fondness for the faster moving waters of rapids. Fish above and below these swifter moving waters (carefully of course) with a medium sized spinning lure like a mepps or bluefox. This is also a great time to jig for bass with your favorite crazy colored plastics.
The pan fish school up in the weeds along shorelines and slip bobbers with small hooks and "floo floo" feathered jigs work great when it is too hot to keep live minnows alive. Try moving out from the shoreline at 2 foot intervals with your slip bobber rig until you find a school of bluegill, punkinseeds or crappie.
On the move or have a paddle day? Troll a big lipped rapala or a spoon rig behind you. This is one of the easiest ways to catch dinner and when they hit, you'll have something to write home about!
Lakers love the cool deep water, so don't be afraid to search the deep holes you find on the map when you find yourself in a laketrout area.

Pico Chair from GCI named "Best Overall" by the
WALL STREET JOURNAL (it folds down to the size of a large laptop!)
"Our Best Overall fit all the criteria. GCI Outdoor's nine-pound PICO chair unfolded from briefcase-size into a spacious, comfortable seat. Even cooler, its carrying case doubled as a hanging storage caddy."
"Our testers couldn't stop gee-whizzing about how this sleek, nine-pound aluminum and nylon mesh director's chair started out the size of a large laptop computer. Messenger bag-style carrying case turns into a back-of-the-chair storage caddy. Chair also has two side pockets."
--the Wall Street Journal

Greece Trip still has OPENINGS:
From the Desk of Kim McCluskey.
We will meet our guide, Nikos, in Athens and travel by bus across Greece to the Ionian Sea. As we paddle from island to island in the clear turquoise waters we will stop at beautiful beaches, snorkel hidden coves and explore the whitewashed villages hidden in the hilly terrain. Our nights will be split between staying in small quaint hotels and camping on deserted beaches. In the evenings we will eat at outside tavernas with the sound of the Ionian Sea crashing at our feet as we sample the homemade feta cheeses, olives, and local wines that each village is so proud of. This is a relaxing journey into a land filled with colorful fables, powerful gods and a happy people that still know the meaning of hospitality.
We are looking for three more people to go on this wonderful adventure. The dates are September 10 21. Call Kim at 1-800-6474 or 218- 365-4297 for more information.
Cost $2950 from Athens.
