COSMETIC BLEM paddles from Bending Branches are 30% off.
To celebrate the Blueberry Arts Festival this weekend we're bringing back our Blem Sale. We just received a new shipment of discounted paddles. A blem or blemished paddle is a great way to go if you like to save money and have been looking for gear a great deal prices. We all know paddles are the work horse of the trip and they get scratched and dinged almost immediately after the trip starts - or sometimes even before. We bang them, drop them, clean fish on them and hit the water every day the weather allows and some it doesn't. These particular paddles are marked down 30% to save you money, because somewhere on them is a blemish. It could be a varnish bubble, it could be a variation in the wood, a knot or soft spot filled with wood epoxy and sealed over, it could be that in the lamination process, something didn't come out to spec and isn't as pretty as it should be. It could be that the blemish is very hard to find. Bending Branches sets the bar high and at some point in the inspection process, these paddles didn't make the top shelf, but only for aesthetic reasons, not for anything structural. They will perform to spec despite their title of Blem. |

How about a History Lesson from the Ely Area?
Last week Helen Koski who grew up on her parent's Fishing Lodge on Crooked Lake was kind enough to share about Ely in another time. A lot has changed since then, but the beauty of the area is still exquisite and Helen did a fabulous job giving us a feel for that era. She had lots of great pictures and an old map of the area that we caught on tape, too. See the hours worth of video in 6 parts on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=StevePiragis#g/u |

A new enews segment: Things that Work!
Got a favorite Piragis piece of gear or clothing? Email us your comments and we'll post them! Thanks Piragis "I got the barrel cooler, used it with dry ice, and had good luck. Steak, chicken, and sausage stayed frozen solid. Seems like a great product, and well made. Happy to hear that it's made in Ely. Meal planning for the BWCA is now pretty much wide open. Thanks again!" Robert Berglund Enjoy perishable foods later in your trip, with this insulated barrel cooler. Our insulated barrel cooler is made in Ely of US made materials. EVA foam insulation with HDPE plastic stiffeners in sides keeps it from flattening in the barrel. Webbing carry handle is long enough to fold out of the way for easy access. Use as a softpack cooler at the park, on day hikes, or at the stadium. Heavy duty zipper gives full access to interior. Item #: OS02005 |
